5.25.2023 ~ Gratitude Thursday Writing Prompt ~ The Power of Purposeful Writing ~ Daily Writing Prompts~ Writing Practice for Balance and Creativity

I have chosen a path less traveled. I don’t need accolades for going down this road as it has been my choice. But I get a lot of “You’re so brave.” And “I don’t know how you do it.” “I could never live with that kind of uncertainty.” While it takes courage sometimes for anyone to live on their own terms, living this way is its own reward. So grateful to have tossed away caring what anybody thinks and to have embraced my one and precious life.

(Phrases brazenly stolen from poets Robert Frost and Mary Oliver – thank you both – grateful for poets!)

In his book Ralph Waldo Emerson first introduced the concept of Transcendentalism in his book Nature (1836). Transcendentalism is the idea that spiritual truth can be found by intuition rather than established doctrine.

A quote of his I often go back to for strength is “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

Gratitude Thursday Writing Prompt ~ Write about how the world has tried to make you something else but you have persevered in being true to yourself. Feel gratitude for your strength of character.
